Rising Beyond the Surface

I recently began exploring alcohol inks, which has forced me to approach painting in a whole new way. Since it is a thin, fast drying medium I can work quickly adding layer upon layer. At the same time, it is not as forgiving as oil paints and part of their charm is the airiness. So, many times, less is more and it is an exercise in restriction and subtraction. As I shed the heaviness of the last year, the lightness I feel is brought to life through the flow of the inks and the crazy vibrant colors produce.
